Background to the coalition:
The Coalition, which was established in 2004 and has grown through the voluntary efforts of members and supportive institutions, exists to champion education for sustainable development [ESD] in the region. The glue that binds SWLfSC together is:
- A shared conviction that sustainable development is a priority, and that learning is the key to this
- Commonly-held values around the importance of education, the need to promote systems thinking and active citizenship, and the central importance of co-operation across interests and communities.

Vacancies for Appointments to Board including Notes on Officers’ Responsibilities
The coalition currently has three vacancies on the directors board (15/9/'15):
Meeting and Minutes Secretary (1 vacancy)
The Meeting and Minutes Secretary should be appointed for a two-year term with an option for being re-elected with no limit on number of terms.
The Meeting and Minutes Secretary’s role is:
a. Working with the Chair and Executive Director, to organise Board and other Coalition meetings (including seminars).
b. Ensuring minutes are taken at Board Meetings and other Coalition meetings; this should include:
o A record of every unanimous or majority decision taken by the Directors;
o Every declaration by a Director of an interest in an actual or proposed transaction with the Company
Directors (2 vacancies)
a. Assisting in the management of the Coalition’s business
b. Exercising all the powers of the Coalition for any purpose connected with its business
c. Ensuring that the Coalition’s purpose remains relevant and valid
d. Ensuring that the work of the Coalition is planned to best meet the needs of its members
